Smart and Skilled NSW

Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. It is helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers.

From January 2015, Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with an entitlement to government subsidised training. For information on Smart and Skilled as well as determine your eligibility and obtain a Fee Estimate please visit

  • AHC30110 Certificate III in Agriculture
  • BSB20112 Certificate II in Business
  • BSB40407 Certificate IV in Small Business Management
  • ICA20111 Certificate II in Information, Digital Media and Technology
  • SIR30312 Certificate III in Retail Supervision
  • SIT20213 Certificate II in Hospitality
  • SIT20312 Certificate II in Kitchen Operations
  • SIT30713 Certificate III in Hospitality
  • TLI21610 Certificate II in Warehousing Operations
  • TLI21810 Certificate II in Logistics
  • TLI32410 Certificate III in Logistics
  • TLI41810 Certificate IV in Warehousing

You are Eligible if you meet the following:

Be an Australian citizen, a permanent Australian resident, a humanitarian visa holder or a New Zealand citizen, and

  • Be aged 15 years or older, and
  • Live or work in New South Wales, and
  • No longer be at school
  • Haven’t completed a Certificate IV or higher‐level Qualification

You may be entitled to a CONCESSION if you can provide the following:

A letter from the department of Human Services (Centrelink) confirming receipt of the benefit. The letter should clearly show the Centrelink Reference Number (CRN) or:  

  • A current concession card that shows the CRN; or  
  • A current Centrelink income statement that clearly shows the benefit or allowance category and the CRN; or  
  • Any other evidence that clearly chows the CRN and the benefit or allowance category; or  
  • For people applying for Austudy or Newstart allowance, an approval letter from Centrelink that shows the CRN and indicates that commencement date of their benefit is within two weeks of their enrolment or two weeks within the date of the first class attendance or participation in training.  


A fee is payable by each student to undertake these courses through Smart and Skilled:

Concession rates start at $160 for Certificate II courses and $240 for Certificate III courses GST Exempt  *Payment plans available
